Hendra Road Speed Monitoring Results
13/02/2026
St Dennis Parish Council has reviewed the latest data from the mobile speed indicator device placed on Hendra Road between 25 November 2025 and 21 January 2026. Although this area is one of the most frequently reported for speeding, the findings show that more drivers than expected are travelling within or close to the 20-mph limit.
What the Data Shows
• Incoming average speed: 18.64 mph
• Outgoing average speed: 21.31 mph
• 85th percentile speeds: 20 mph incoming, 25 mph outgoing
• Highest recorded speeds: 38 mph incoming, 53 mph outgoing
Most drivers are compliant, especially those travelling into the village. Outgoing traffic shows slightly higher speeds, and a small number of vehicles were recorded at significantly excessive speeds.
What This Means
The results suggest that while community concerns remain valid, the majority of drivers are behaving responsibly, and the issue is largely caused by a minority. Continued monitoring is still important, particularly given the isolated high speed cases.
Next Steps
• Rotate the speed device across priority locations
• Revisit Hendra Road later in the year to compare trends
• Support ongoing road safety initiatives
