WEATHER WARNING – STORM GORETTI 

An amber weather warning is in force for west Cornwall as Storm Goretti approaches, bringing dangerous winds and a high risk of disruption from Thursday evening into Friday.

Significant travel disruption is expected, with flying debris and flooding likely to affect many roads. People are advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary and to take extreme care if they must go out.

Coastal areas will be especially hazardous overnight and into Friday due to very large waves and powerful winds. The public is urged to stay well away from the coast and avoid unnecessary risks.

Anyone who sees someone in trouble near the coast should call 999 and ask for the Coastguard immediately.

Residents in flood-risk areas are advised to take action now to protect their property and prepare for possible flooding.
